PHILOSOPHY

It’s so hard to capture the enormity of planning to be and becoming a parent. Quite often words are not enough to explain the experience and the intensity of the emotions that are felt. We enter a world of completely new experiences and yet somehow have expectations of ourselves that we should be confident and all-knowing. There is also the idea that we should be happy all the time and immersing ourselves in love.
Whilst there are beautiful moments of parenthood there are also incredibly tough and difficult moments. Somehow these are less acceptable to open up to and talk about but they are very real.
Many parents have had difficult and sometimes traumatic experiences on their path to parenthood and need a space to reflect and come to terms with these experiences.
I am dedicated to improving the well-being of parents by helping them deal with these challenges. I believe in supporting parents to find the confidence to follow their own path and raise their children in the way that they choose.
I have set up this service to provide a place for parents and parents-to-be to feel supported and understood. The purpose of this service is to help parents build skills so that they are more able to deal with the challenging times; to help them to identify the kind of family life they want to live; and to be able to move forward in a way where they can live rich and meaningful lives.

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying 'I will try again tomorrow'"

ONE TO ONE SESSIONS
ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY
Please get in contact so that we can have an initial discussion about your needs and how this service can support you.
We can discuss the challenges you are facing and review the therapy on offer to identify how it could be of use to you.
The sessions can be arranged to be completely flexible. We can meet in person (depending on location) or meet remotely via video call.
If childcare is difficult then we can also make arrangements to accommodate for that.
I understand that making that initial contact can be daunting. Upon reaching out you will be met with understanding, support and a helping hand to take the first steps towards change.
This service is founded on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
ACT is an evidence-based form of cognitive behaviour therapy that has proven results in helping participants to build full, rich and meaningful lives.
It is an active, practical and flexible therapy that focuses on skill building and empowering.
The guiding principles of ACT are that difficult thoughts, emotions and experiences are a part of life and that struggling with them and trying to push them away actually makes life harder.
The aim of ACT is to develop skills that help you to manage these emotions and thoughts so they have less impact on your life.
The sessions are flexible, completely based around your needs and what you would like to change.
We will work to identify what is important to you in your life and how you want to work towards enriching your life experiences.
If you would like to meet face to face then our comfortable, welcoming therapy room is located in Ruislip, Middlesex. Accessible via London Underground from the Central, Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, it is well linked to public transport with a bus stop within a 3 minute walk. If travelling by car there is also free parking at the premises.
A changing station, baby bouncer, play mat and toys are also provided if you need to bring your baby or child with you.
Please get in contact for help with exact location and directions.
